Studies have associated binge eating with restriction—aka dieting.
If you’re thinking, “Well tell me something I didn’t know!” … that’s what I thought too!
Get super motivated … manage the bingeing by going on a diet … keep going for as long as possible … then crack and eat everything in sight …
It feels horrible. It’s a common cycle. And, I totally get how dieting can seem the only option.
Although it may seem counterintuitive, one of the best ways to stop bingeing is to make sure you eat enough.
Eat when you’re hungry.
Eat food that makes you feel nourished and energised.
For many people I’ve worked with, the commitment to eat when they’re hungry with food that genuinely nourishes their body has been the way out of the diet-binge cycle.
And—if they had any excess weight to lose (not all binge eaters do)—to permanent weightloss.
